Baggage Handling System

Atef worked on the design, development and excitation phases of baggage handling systems.

Atef lead the automation engineering actives:

– Main Control Power Panels placement

– Distribute Power Panel design

– Centralised Vs Decentralised solution study

– Main control system hardware selection: CPU, PCs and Motor Drives

– Software and electrical System Interface activists with X-ray machines (Rapiscan and Smiths Detection)

Material Handling System (Courier Express)

Atef build sorting machines for courier express clients. Atef guided clients on layout optimisation with respect to space and performance. Atef developed software interface applications to allow material handling systems to communicate with the Courier Express’s virtual Sorting system.

Atef developed different distribution logics on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs):

– Round Robin Logic to distribute single flow into five lines

– First-come-first-serve logic to merge five lines into one while maintaining performance

– Pull logic where items are distributed on starving lines

Turn-key parcel Handling system

Atef acted as a Project Manager for a project valued closed to 5 million Euros. 

Main task and activities involved:

– Project Planning for internal production

– Project Plan alignment with the client’ Schedule

– Resource Planning

– Lead a team of mechanical, electrical and software engineerings to execute engineering activities 

– Hold bi-weekly meeting to align internal team with the clients team on project progress

– Monitor project schedule and update to align with project delivers

– Monitor project budget and follow up with cost development

– Negotiate and monitor clients request and issue change order if necessary

– Handle resources on site and manage deliverables

– Control and monitor budget on site

– Handle disputes and work with the site team to assure client satisfaction through the project
